Elder Gary Stevenson and his wife, Lesa

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Adelaide are preparing to welcome LDS apostle, Gary E. Stevenson to their city.

Elder Stevenson and his wife, Lesa, will visit Adelaide this weekend (August 18-21) as part of a ministering tour in the South Pacific.

They are expected to address more than 1000 church members at conferences scheduled for two of the three Adelaide stakes (diocese) – Firle and Marion.  Elder Craig A. Cardon of the Pacific Area Presidency, who is accompanying the Stevensons along with his wife, Deborah, will speak at a conference session scheduled for Modbury Stake.

They will be joined by local leader Elder Paul Lekias and his wife Rebecca.

Elder Stevenson was called to The Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on 3 October 2015.  While the Quorum is based at church headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah, travelling the globe to build faith in Jesus Christ and uplift Latter-day Saints and the wider community is a major part of an apostle’s service.

South Australian youth and others from outlying regions will also hear from the apostle at a special Sunday afternoon Youth Devotional.

“This is a great opportunity for Church members and friends alike to hear from an apostle, a special witness of Jesus Christ, and be inspired to become better disciples of Jesus Christ,” said Firle Stake President, Rainer Korte.

This will be Elder Stevenson’s first visit to Australia. Also read about the visit on mormonnewsroom here.
