It is often hard to find the essence of Christmas among the season’s bright lights and distractions. Instead, many people find joy this time of year through giving and serving – which is the focus of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ ‘LIGHTtheWORLD’ Christmas campaign.

The campaign is designed to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, and bring his light to others as people commit to one kind act a day throughout the month of December.  The message to lovingly serve as Jesus Christ would, in 25 ways over 25 days, began on November 25 with the release of the Church’s new Christmas video. You can view the video here.

The initiative begins in earnest on the 1st of December with a Worldwide Day of Service as individuals, families and like-minded groups undertake their first act of service. Participants can use the hashtag #LIGHTtheWORLD on social media to share experiences in reaching out to help others. Along with Latter-day Saints worldwide, the wider community can get involved in this month of positive, uplifting, daily action with a ‘LIGHTtheWORLD’ website of resources and ideas – including an Advent Calendar – available from November 25.
